Each participant must register either online at www.row.wsu.edu or in person at the WSU Student Rec Center before they can participate. Registration includes a required risk and release waiver. For participants under the age of 18, parents or legal guardians must sign the waiver.

A basic swim test must be completed before you can start rowing. Be sure to mark your calendar to attend one of the times listed below before your sessions starts! It involves treading water for 10:00 and swimming 4 laps continuously. The pool is in the WSU Student Rec Center. Just inform the front desk why you are there and they will show you to the locker room. Please shower beforehand. Towels are provided.

Swim Test Dates and Times
Tuesday, May 29th, 6:00 or 6:30pm
Thur/Fri, June 7/8, 6:00 or 6:30pm

This is not required to participate in the Learn to Row Day, but will be required before being able to start the Learn to Row program. All rowers and coxswains who are new to the program must also attend one of these sessions and pass the swim test to participate. Tests last about 15 minutes and are held at the WSU Student Rec Center pool.





Programs

Learn to Row Day
This is a brief overview for all of you who have always wanted to try rowing. Participants will review the basics and then row in boats seated alongside our experienced masters and collegiate rowers. This safe and inspiring learning environment is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Those that participate are encouraged to join the Learn To Row class.

Min 4/Max 24
Ages: 12+ Youth & Adults all ages. Coed.
Experience: None needed.
Participants must have basic swim skills to participate.

June 5, Tu 5:45-7:45pm

Space is limited!



This class is free of charge, but participants must sign up in advance and will be accepted on a first come basis as space is available. A swim test is not required to join the Learn to Row Day, but one will be required to continue in the Learn to Row class.

Junior & Adult Learn to Row (3 weeks/9 practices)
WSU Men’s Crew is sponsoring its fifth annual Learn To Row for teens (age 12+) & adults of all ages. Participants will learn sweep rowing (in which each rower has one oar) and row in 8 and 4 person boats. At the coach’s discretion, those that complete the Learn to Row are encouraged to continue into the Team Camp.

June 9-28, Sa 9:15-11:15am, TuTh 5:45-7:45pm
$150 ($125 WSU SRC member discount)

Masters (5 weeks/ 14 practices)
In rowing, masters just means you’re an adult with some level of experience. This class will take a wide range of experience levels and ages to form a mixed masters crew. Skills are reviewed and a training foundation is built. Sweep rowing is our focus but some sculling is introduced.

May 30 - Jun 28, Sa 7:00-9:00am, MW 5:45-7:45pm, includes Bonus Day June 28th
$155 ($130 WSU SRC member discount)

Masters & Junior Team Camp (5 weeks/16 practices)
The skills continue to be developed and the workouts continue to be more demanding as the team refines its timing, balance and power.

July 7-Aug 11, Sa 7:00-9:00am, MW 5:45-7:45pm
$175 ($145 WSU SRC member discount)
Aug 13 is our annual end of the summer race with Coeur d'Alene Rowing Assoc., this year to be held on Fernan Lake, C d'Alene, ID.

Masters Coxing
The coxswain is the member of the crew who is responsible for steering and coordinating the crew. A good cox will use their mind, their voice and their senses to help each rower, and the crew as a whole, row their best. A coxswain can be a motivating force, and in a sense, an onboard coach. Whether you have previous coxing experience or would like to learn from scratch, you will be an important member in the boat. Typically a cox will weigh less than 150#.

August 11 will be our annual end of the summer regatta with Coeur d'Alene
